Who we are
KiwiTradies is operated by VentureX Ltd (“VentureX”, “we”, “us” or “our”). This policy explains how we handle personal information under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
Information we collect
Depending on how you use KiwiTradies, we may collect:
- your name, email address, phone number and other contact details;
- your CV, work history, trade, skills, qualifications, licences, certifications, tickets, preferred locations and introductory information;
- company details, website addresses, job descriptions, locations, role requirements and hiring preferences;
- documents and images you upload;
- communications with us and information supplied during screening or recruitment; and
- limited technical, security and usage information generated when you use the site.
How we collect it
We usually collect information directly from you. With appropriate authority, we may also receive information from referees, employers, recruitment partners and publicly available professional sources. If you provide personal information about another person, you must be authorised to do so.
Why we use it
We use personal information to respond to enquiries, assess candidate and role suitability, carry out screening, make recruitment introductions, communicate about opportunities, administer and secure the service, improve our processes, maintain business records and comply with legal obligations.
Where you separately opt in, we may also send relevant job updates, hiring information or other KiwiTradies marketing. Marketing consent is optional and can be withdrawn at any time.
Who we share it with
We may share relevant information with prospective employers, candidates and recruitment participants where reasonably necessary for a recruitment process. We may also disclose information to referees you authorise us to contact, service providers supporting our systems, professional advisers, regulators, law enforcement agencies or other parties where disclosure is authorised or required by New Zealand law.
We do not sell personal information.
Overseas recipients and service providers
KiwiTradies is a trans-Tasman service. Candidate information may be disclosed to prospective employers and recruitment participants in Australia. Our technology providers, including Cloudflare and Slack, may process or store information outside New Zealand.
Where New Zealand law requires it, we take reasonable steps to ensure overseas disclosures have appropriate privacy safeguards or rely on another lawful basis for the disclosure. By asking us to pursue an Australian opportunity, you understand that relevant recruitment information may need to be shared with Australian recipients.
Storage and security
Website submissions and uploaded files are delivered to our private Slack workspace and may also be handled by Cloudflare while the submission is processed. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards intended to protect information against loss, misuse, unauthorised access, disclosure or alteration. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as it is reasonably required for recruitment, relationship management, recordkeeping, dispute resolution and legal purposes. Retention may vary depending on whether a recruitment process is active, whether you want to hear about future opportunities and the retention settings of our service providers. We securely delete or de-identify information when it is no longer required.
Your choices
You do not have to provide information to us, but we may be unable to assess an enquiry, candidate profile or job brief without the required details. Optional marketing choices do not affect our assessment of your recruitment enquiry.
You may unsubscribe from marketing or job updates at any time by replying to a message or contacting us. We may still send service messages about an active enquiry or recruitment process.
Access and correction
You may ask for access to personal information we hold about you or request a correction. Contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before responding and may withhold information where the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 permits.
Privacy concerns
If you have a privacy question or complaint, contact our Privacy Officer at info@venturexnz.com. We will review and respond to your concern. You may also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
Changes
We may update this policy as our service or legal obligations change. We will publish the revised policy here and update the effective date.
